art and...holidays.
Villa Rodogallo ( ).
Its name recalls the ancient settlement that gave origin to the
Sannicola village.
A 18th century majestic building located at the end of a long age-old
pine tree path. Just 7 km away from Gallipoli, the Villa stands
in the Santese family estate with vineyards, olive and orange trees.
The guests are welcomed in a large square with volcanic stone floor
and surrounded by 4 neo-classical columns topped with large vases. The
four columns probably replaced the only one that used to show the
entrance to the Laura Basiliana of Santa Maria de Atoca mentioned
in the parchment n.7 in august 1191 of the San Mauro Abbey or of
Santa Maria de Ligero locate north-east of Alezio.
The Villa still preserves the charm of the XVII century noble houses
where eminent guests used to arrive from the three alleys by harnessed
carriages and coachmen in livery. Delicious food and firstlings
from the Otranto land were offered to the guests.
The House has two floors and it is completed by a chapel with mosaic
pavement dated back to 1810 . The peculiar shade of red of the
building is in a beautiful contrast with the green of the surrounding
countyside.
Through an arch beside the private church you reach the garden with
its many coloured flowers of rare species:

bathroom, balcony, windows and star vaulted roof;
- a hall with view from two sides, fireplace, vintage furnishing,
